Feinstein and friends; foes of freedom

by George Phillies

I present to you a specific case, a case of the American establishment against the American people.

The case is Dianne Feinstein, Senator from California. Her extensive work for the establishment and against the freedoms of all Americans merits personal recognition. The greatest difficulty is asking where to begin. This year, Feinstein and Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss held their notorious press conference to defend mass telephone wiretapping by our government of all Americans. Her position was that the establishment had made it legal, via secret court orders, for the NSA to collect your phone records. By the way, that’s *your* phone records. Congress’s, perhaps not so much. We have that law because Feinstein voted in 2006 to extend the Patriot Act. That law came from George Bush’s Attorney General, John Ashcroft. The law gave the executive branch practically unlimited power to search your financial records, medical histories, Internet files, library book records, and every other activity that leaves a record on which the executive can get its paws. The Patriot act led us through Stellar Wind to our current state of affairs, where Uncle Sam reads our every phone call and email. This is America’s Establishment and its War on America. In 1998, Feinstein amended the Defense appropriation Bill to repeal the First Amendment and create a new type of thought crime, one that George Orwell had not dreamed: You would be convicted for what other people were thinking. S.936 of the 105th Congress made it a crime to distribute “to any person, by any means, information pertaining to, in whole or in part, the manufacture or use of an explosive, destructive device, or weapon of mass destruction” if that other person intended to use that information to commit a crime. That law devastated patriotic publishers from coast to coast and beyond. In 2010, Feinstein attempted another repeal of the First Amendment, this time via the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act, which would have allowed the Attorney General to issue dictates closing down internet URLs, without benefit of a court hearing or presumption of innocence. This is America’s Establishment and its War on America. In 2007, Feinstein and Senate Republican establishment friends voted to repeal the Fourth Amendment. They modified the FISA act to eliminate the role of the judiciary in search warrants. Now the executive branch would be able to approve some communications surveillances by themselves. She then voted to provide legal immunity to telecomm firms that let the government do warrantless intercepts of bulk transmissions on fiber-optic cables. Feinstein supports the death penalty, under which countless innocent Americans have over the years been sent to their graves. Feinstein and her establishment pals on both sides of the Congressional aisles support the racist war on drugs, under which millions of Americans have been sent to prison. Feinstein voted for the Constitutional Amendment to ban flag burning. This proposal makes of the flag a religious symbol that can be desecrated, somewhat to the dismay of Americans whose religions forbid idolatry. Feinstein voted with establishment buddy Senators including Santorum, Chambliss, Cornyn, Ensign, and of course John McCain. And of course, as a gun banner Feinstein lines up with fellow establishment banners including Republican Bob Dole, who voted to ban large-magazine shotguns, and Mayors like New York’s Bloomberg, whose latest effort is a call to ban 4th of July sparklers, “because they could be used in terrorist attacks”. See dailycaller DOTcomSLASH2013/06/26/bloomberg-if-sparklers-are-legal-the-terrorists-will-win/ for the silly details. This is America’s Establishment and its War on America.
